The Beautiful Life Manifesto
Everything Is Art
“I am going to make everything around me beautiful, and that will be my life.” This idea has become more than a quote to me. It is the way I have chosen to live.
I believe everything is art.
A canvas is art, but so is a room that makes someone exhale when she walks through the door. Hair is art. Healing is art. A meal made with care, a garden, a conversation, a restored piece of local history, a class filled with people trying something new, and the courage to rebuild your life are all forms of creation.
My life has never fit neatly into one title. I am an artist, a hairstylist, a salon owner, an educator, a restorer, a community builder, and a student of healing. For more than two decades, I have worked behind the chair and beside the canvas. I have learned that creativity and care are not separate. Both ask us to pay attention. Both ask us to trust our hands, listen to what is beneath the surface, and imagine what something might become.
Salon 129 grew from that belief. I wanted to create more than a place to receive a service. I wanted to create a space where beauty could feel personal, intentional, and restorative. Through The Crown Lounge, that vision expanded into scalp care, ritual, quiet, education, and nervous-system support. My artwork, classes, community projects, and restoration work come from the same place: the desire to help people feel seen, connected, and more at home in themselves.
We live in a time filled with noise.
Our attention is constantly being pulled toward screens, trends, productivity, comparison, and the pressure to move faster. Too often, people are taught to follow a path, perform, produce, and conform before they are ever encouraged to ask what makes them feel alive. Technology can connect us and support us, but it should never replace our humanity, our imagination, or the experience of making something with our own hands.
Creativity brings us back. It asks us to slow down, become curious, make choices, solve problems, and express what words cannot always hold. You do not need to call yourself an artist to live creatively. Creativity can be arranging flowers, choosing color, repairing something, styling hair, writing, cooking, moving your body, building a business, or gathering people around a shared idea. It is our ability to participate in life instead of simply consuming it.
Healing, to me, is not about pretending that everything is perfect. It is about creating beauty honestly, even after disappointment, grief, change, illness, or fear. It is about taking what life has given us and choosing how we will shape it. Sometimes that happens through paint.
Sometimes it happens in a salon chair, during a quiet ritual, inside a community project, or around a table where people remember how good it feels to create together.
My vision
My vision is to continue building spaces and experiences where art, beauty, wellness, history, and community can meet. I want people of all ages and experience levels to feel welcome. I want creativity to feel accessible rather than intimidating. I want people to leave with more than an object they made. I want them to leave with confidence, connection, a new memory, and a deeper relationship with themselves.
I am going to keep making everything around me beautiful—not because life is always beautiful, but because creating beauty is one way I choose to meet life. This is my art. This is my salon. This is my healing. This is my work. And this is the beautiful life I am still creating.
